DEPUTY MINISTER ZIKALALA ENCOURAGES YOUTH TO LEAD WITH PURPOSE AT FILL YOUR HORN WITH OIL GATHERING

Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Sihle Zikalala, delivered an inspiring message of hope, leadership and responsibility to young people during the annual “Fill Your Horn with Oil movement” gathering held in Pietermaritzburg.

Quoting 1 Timothy 4:12, Deputy Minister Zikalala encouraged young people not to allow anyone to undermine them because of their age, but instead to lead by example through their conduct, faith, love and integrity.

He also reflected on the words of former ANC Youth League President Anton Lembede, who challenged young people to embrace hard work, discipline, courage and sacrifice in the service of their country. "The youth stage is a period of becoming," he said. "Young people must aspire to become better citizens, leaders and servants of their communities."

The Deputy Minister commended the organisers of the Fill Your Horn with Oil movement for their longstanding contribution to nation-building, recognising the church's important role in nurturing ethical leadership, promoting peace and helping build stronger communities.

He noted that churches continue to play a critical role in shaping leaders with strong moral values, adding that ethical leadership is essential in addressing challenges such as corruption, crime and social inequality. He encouraged young people to become active participants in South Africa's development, reminding them that the country's future depends on a generation prepared to lead with purpose, integrity and compassion.
