The Director-General (DG) of the Department, Sfiso Mdakane embarked on an oversight site visit to the Durban High Court Precinct, which is currently under construction. This visit afforded the DG an opportunity to meet and discuss the progress that has been made on this high priority project, led by contractors and consultants that are tasked with its completion.

The project is currently 75% complete, and through its progression, 29 artisans have been trained are to be certified before the end of the project. A female Young Professional has also been trained through this project, and due to the practical skilled she obtained here, she was able to register and receive her professional registration through SACPCMP. Furthermore, two female student architects, who have now registered professionally with SACAP, have been placed to join the team working on this project to gain their training as consulting principal agents.
This project will increase the number of courts available in Durban, whilst also providing additional administration office spaces, public spaces, and additional parking facilities.

Later in the day, The DG, led by the Director of Projects in the Durban Regional Office, Mr Thuthuka Mbhele, also visited the Department of Labour Center. DPWI through its Durban Regional Office has also made good progress in fixing and maintaining the Labour Center. Fixing of the lifts and the ceiling in the building has been completed. Air conditioners have also been installed in most parts of the building. The Director General was satisfied with the progress made at the Labour Center, and recommended some solutions to make sure further projects are successfully completed and delivered to client departments.
