Over the weekend, the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, conducted an oversight inspection of the ongoing repairs and renovations to the Dome located next to Parliament in Cape Town.

The visit formed part of efforts to ensure that the facility is fully prepared to host the 2026 State of the Nation Address and to serve as the temporary home of Parliament until the new Parliamentary building currently under construction are completed.
As the custodian responsible for providing accommodation for national departments and institutions, the Department is working to ensure that the temporary facility meets all required standards.

The adjustments being implemented are aligned with Parliament’s specifications to ensure that the facility meets long-term operational requirements.
The Department will receive daily progress reports and conduct weekly inspections to ensure that the project remains within budget and on schedule.
