Minister Dean Macpherson Joins Manenberg Community for Iftar Engagement

On Wednesday, 25 February 2026, residents of Manenberg gathered for a Community Iftar, joined by the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Minister was accompanied by the City of Cape Town’s MMC for Human Settlements, Carl Pophaim, and Ward 30 Councillor, Deidre De Vos. Together, they shared in the breaking of the fast with community members, demonstrating solidarity and respect for the spiritual significance of Ramadan.

The gathering provided a meaningful platform for direct engagement between public representatives and residents. Rooted in reflection, unity, and service, the Community Iftar created an opportunity for open dialogue on matters affecting the area, while strengthening the relationship between government and the community it serves.
